Every home collects rubbish that will not go in the wheelie bin. A pile of bags from a spare room tidy, the old bathroom suite after a refit, boxes that have been in the hallway since you moved in. We load it all for you and take it away, so you don't have to hire a skip, find space for it on a narrow street or make multiple runs in the car.
Because we do the loading, you don't need to bag everything up or carry it outside first. Show us where it is, and we'll take it from there.
Good to know: You get a fixed quote before we start, we separate recyclable material from general waste, and you'll receive a waste transfer note for what we remove. We keep waste transfer paperwork for every job, and you are always welcome to ask to see our waste carrier registration before we start.
What we can take
- Black bags, boxes and general household junk
- Old furniture, mattresses and carpets
- Electrical items and white goods
- DIY and renovation waste, such as old kitchen units, doors, bathroom fittings and timber
- Garden waste, broken pots and old garden furniture
- Toys, bikes and sports equipment
- Paper, cardboard and packaging after a move
Some materials need specialist handling, such as asbestos, gas bottles and some chemicals. Please mention anything like this when you ask for a quote so we can tell you what we can take and what needs to go elsewhere.
How rubbish removal works
- 1
Tell us about the job
Call, email or use the quote form. A few photos are the quickest way to a price.
- 2
Free, fixed quote
A clear price with no hidden extras and no obligation. The figure we quote is the figure you pay.
- 3
Pick a date
We agree a date that suits you, including weekends by arrangement.
- 4
We clear it
We do the lifting, loading and sorting, room by room, setting aside anything you want to keep.
- 5
Swept and done
We sweep up and walk through with you before we leave.
For most jobs, a few photos are enough to give you a fixed price. We then agree a date, arrive, load everything into the van and sweep up behind us. You don't need to be at the property if the rubbish is somewhere we can reach, like a yard, drive or garage, as long as we've agreed beforehand what is going.
How rubbish removal is priced
The main factor is volume, which is how much space the waste takes up in the van. Weight matters too, particularly for rubble, soil and heavy building waste. Access makes a difference, as does the mix of materials, since some items cost more to recycle or dispose of properly. Our guide to clearance prices covers all of this in plain terms.
Why a skip is not always the answer in Whitby
In much of Whitby, a skip simply is not practical. Streets in the old town are narrow, many East Side cottages sit in yards with no road access at all, and on-street parking is at a premium, especially in the holiday season. A skip on the road may also need a permit, and it can quickly fill up with other people's rubbish. With a man-and-van style collection, the rubbish leaves with us as soon as it is loaded, and you only pay for the space it takes.
We also collect regularly from the villages, including Sleights, Hinderwell and Lythe, where a trip to the tip can mean a fair drive. Holiday-let owners often use us between guests to take away broken furniture and accumulated odds and ends before the next booking.
Recycling, not just dumping
We don't just drive everything to landfill. Rubbish is sorted so that metals, wood, cardboard, electricals and reusable items are separated from general waste, and anything worth passing on is reused. You can read about the process on our recycling and responsible disposal page. The waste transfer note you receive shows the waste has been handed to a proper carrier, which protects you from any comeback if waste is fly-tipped by someone else.
Common reasons people call us
Rubbish removal jobs come in all sizes. Some of the most common are:
- Clearing out after a kitchen or bathroom refit, when the fitters have not taken the old units away
- A big sort-out before moving house, when the loft, spare room and shed all produce more than expected
- Getting a property ready for sale or for new tenants
- Helping an older relative who can no longer manage trips to the tip
- Clearing a yard or passage that has become a dumping ground over the winter
Whatever the reason, the approach is the same: a clear price first, then we do the carrying and loading so you don't have to.

Rubbish removal questions
Do I need to bag everything before you arrive?
No. We do the loading, so loose items, boxes and bulky pieces are all fine. Just let us know roughly what there is and where it is.
Do you take building and DIY waste?
Yes, including old kitchen units, bathroom fittings, doors and timber. Heavy materials such as rubble and soil are priced on weight as well as volume, so mention them when you ask for a quote.
Is there anything you can't take?
Some hazardous materials, such as asbestos, need specialist handling. Tell us about anything unusual when you ask for a quote and we'll let you know what we can and can't take.
Will I get a waste transfer note?
Yes. We provide a waste transfer note for the waste we remove, so you have a record that it has been dealt with properly.
